You know it’s bad when …

… Flames bloggers rush en masse to their computers to complain mid-game about their team’s effort.

Red Wings 5 “Flames” 1
(Red Wings lead best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final 3-2)

As for me, after my second-intermission effort, I decided to pass my ongoing thoughts in conversation with walkinvisible through the comment string. To summarize: Everything about that was embarrassing, including the bush league shit at the end of the game. They looked like a bunch of petulant children who couldn’t take the fact they were wildly outplayed. Can’t wait to hear the explanation for this entire debacle.

A Toronto get-together may be in order for tomorrow night. Anyone interested can send an e-mail to flamesblog [at] gmail [dot] com.

  1. No class out of Calgary those last 5 minutes. Nice showing from your captain at the end of the game, especially.

  2. No argument.

  3. can’t do tomorrow, i’m expected to attend a wrap party for my job. i may be able to skip out early (and will if there’s no tv there). should we bother talking about tuesday ? 🙂

maybe it’s a cop-out but every questionable action by anyone in a flaming C can be attributed to having a hack coach. that includes noodles going off the deep end after 30 seconds, or the continual post-whistle scrums in the last 5 minutes. oh, and the inability to score, the plethora of unnecessary penalties, the questionable defense etc. etc. etc.

this paragraph is so good, i’m reposting it.

  4. Is Noodles’ whole 18s of icetime in the game some sort of whacked-out, obscure record?

  5. every questionable action by anyone in a flaming C can be attributed to having a hack coach

There’s a large element of truth to that. I think so, and so does the NHL, which is why coaches are now suspended/fined when players instigate fights in the final five minutes.

That said, there’s a way to do things on the ice, and that didn’t look like the right way to me.

  6. Oh and, yeah, if there is a Tuesday, I’m game.

  7. “Flames”

    Good call.

  8. I’m glad to hear that Flames’ fans are just as disgusted as Wings’ fans with some of the dirty plays.

  9. I just can’t get over the irony of Calgary’s coach being named “Playfair”.

  11. […] pour up out of the woodwork and readers who’ve been reading us for all of the last two weeks flood these guys with smug assertions about “at least our team is way more classy than that.” […]
